Did the Tower of Babel teach us nothing? It’s no secret that humanity has always been obsessed with the stars—from ancient astrologers mapping the skies to modern billionaires launching rockets. But did you know that back in 1953, Wernher von Braun, the father of rocket science, wrote a book about a Martian leader named “Elon”? Yes, you read that right.
A Martian “Elon”? The Odd Coincidence in Von Braun’s Book
In his book Project Mars: A Technical Tale, von Braun describes a future where humans colonize Mars and establish a representative democracy led by an official called “Elon.” Now, considering Elon Musk’s very public (and very expensive) plans to colonize Mars with SpaceX, the eerie parallel has fueled speculation. Is this some bizarre self-fulfilling prophecy, or just a wild coincidence?
Musk himself has stated that colonizing Mars is essential for “saving humanity.” But does this sound familiar? Because it should. Humanity has tried this kind of thing before—building something grand in defiance of God’s order.
Tower of Babel 2.0?
Back in 📖 Genesis 11:1-9, mankind got a little too ambitious and decided to build the Tower of Babel—a structure designed to “reach the heavens” and solidify human unity and power. Sounds noble, right? Wrong. God had explicitly commanded humanity to “fill the earth” 📖 Genesis 9:1, not congregate in one place and challenge His authority.
The result? God confused their languages, scattered them across the earth, and crushed their plans. Why? Because the deeper issue wasn’t the tower itself, but the heart behind it—pride, self-sufficiency, and a direct challenge to God’s authority.
Now, fast-forward to today. Humanity is once again uniting, pooling resources to create a modern-day “tower”—but instead of bricks, we’re using rockets. The goal? To escape Earth and build a new world on Mars. But here’s the problem:
God Designed Earth for Us—Not Mars
In 📖 Genesis 1:29-30, God made the earth perfectly suited for human life. He filled it with plants, animals, and an atmosphere that supports us. The Bible even describes the firmament 📖 Genesis 1:6-8 as a barrier between the heavens and Earth. We exist in a closed system, something even Bill Nye has admitted.
So where in God’s plan is a second planet for humanity? Nowhere. If we turn to the ultimate roadmap—the Bible—we see how it all ends in Revelation. John was given a vision of the future—not a possible future, but the actual future—and nowhere did he see a second home for mankind.
Mars Won’t Save Us—Only Jesus Can
The Bible is very clear about the fate of this world. Eventually, the Antichrist will rise 📖 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, deceiving the nations and establishing a system where every person on Earth will be required to take his mark to buy or sell 📖 Revelation 13:16-17. But before that happens, Jesus will take His followers home 📖 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, and the world will descend into seven years of chaos before Christ’s return to establish His reign.
So, what’s all this Mars talk really about? Perhaps it’s a distraction—separating the “sheep from the goats” 📖 Matthew 25:32-33. The world dreams of leaving Earth, but believers know that our true home isn’t another planet—it’s with Jesus.
If You Didn’t Get the Hint, Here It Is…
Like the Dothraki say in Game of Thrones: “It is known.” We know how this story ends, and it’s not on Mars. The question is: Where are you placing your trust? In human ambition, or in God’s eternal plan?
Because one thing is certain: A rocket ship won’t save you—but Jesus will.
Anyway, time for this Byrd to fly. Bye Bye Now.
